“Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God in you through the laying on of my hands.” (2 Tim. 1:6 NKJV)

God has ordained a good future for us (Eph. 2:10).  In order to be able to function effectively in it, we need to activate the gifts that God has deposited within us.  To be able to effectively utilize these gifts as believers and according to God’s preordained plan for us, we have to be anointed with His power.  The anointing from God would empower and enable us to fulfill this purpose (1 Sam. 16:11-12).

Jesus commanded the apostles not to depart from Jerusalem, but instead, to wait for the Promise of the Father, the Holy Spirit, who shall anoint them with power (Acts 1: 4-8).  When the power of God came upon them, they were embolden, and all went out preaching the gospel of the Kingdom with the desired impact, and without fear (Acts 4:13).

As believers, we have all received gifts inside of us from God, to enable us fulfill His ordained purpose for us in this world.  But if these gifts are not activated by the deployment of the mysteries of the Kingdom, we would not be able to effectively operate the promises of God for our lives.  For this reason, we have been reminded by Apostle Paul to stir up the gifts of God which is in us; otherwise we will end up struggling, using our own limited abilities and strength in trying to fulfilling God’s purpose for our lives (2 Tim. 1:6).

God deliberately anoints His people so that they can receive power from Him to enable them do His will.  The power of sin is destroyed by the anointing (Isa. 10:27).  Our God does not change.  God wants to anoint us in order for us to be empowered by the Spirit of God to do His will (Luke 4:18).  The anointing from God empowers us to preach the gospel of the Kingdom, with the desired impact being achieved and also to heal those who are oppressed of the devil, just like Jesus did, because of the presence of the power of God working through us (Acts 10:38).

God wants to use us in 2017 to extend and expand His Kingdom wherever we find ourselves in this world.  The extension and expansion of God’s Kingdom is the most important agenda to God today (Isa. 9:6-7).  To be blessed in 2017, we must do those things that are close to the heart of God.  God has anointed us to extend and expand His Kingdom.  Having been saved and empowered, it is now our duty to bring the unsaved souls into His Kingdom.

God expects our lives to bear good fruits (Matt 3:10).  We must be willing to be used by God in 2017 to establish His purpose in this world, bringing glory and honor to His name.

A man who is in honor, yet does not understand, is like the beasts that perish (Ps. 49:20).
