“And the people said to Joshua, “The LORD our God we will serve, and His voice we will obey!” (Josh. 24:24 NKJV)
Be not deceived, for whatever a man sows that he will reap (Gal. 6:7). Those of us, who claim to be sons of God, should remember that any progress that we intend to make in 2017 should not be dependent on chance (Ps. 75:6-7) or man (Gen. 14:21-24) but on God by our commitment to render an acceptable service unto the Lord.
God wants us to serve Him in spirit and in truth (John 4: 23-24) and not by compulsion or at our convenience. A time is coming when the Lord is going to make a difference between those who serve Him and those who do not (Mal. 3:18).
Our success in 2017 starts with our commitment to serve God with a loyal heart (2 Chr. 25:2). Christianity is not by compulsion. We are not doing God any favour by serving Him. God is looking for those who will diligently obey Him, to observe carefully all His commandments (Deut. 28:1).
We work for God because we want to. Nobody is compelled to. A person is better off not serving God than to offer Him a lame service, a defiled food (Mal. 1:6-7). Cain loved God, he was a worshipper, but both himself and his offering were rejected because he offered a lame sacrifice to God (Gen. 4:5).
We were created for God’s pleasure, to please Him (Rev. 4:11) yet God is more eager to help us than we are eager to help ourselves. But for this to happen, we must position ourselves in a place where He can reach us, a place where we are offering an acceptable service pleasing unto Him, by the renewing of our mind (Rom. 12:1-2) and the realignment our thoughts and ways with the thoughts and ways of God (Isa. 55:8-9)
When God sees our heart and our determination to serve Him, He will make His favour available to us (Matt. 5:6). Every labour has its own reward, and our God is not unrighteous to forget our work and labour of love (Heb. 6:10). We must serve God to please Him alone. We must serve Him with a sense of urgency, knowing that our destiny is tied to our service.
Make a quality decision today to serve God in an acceptable way, the way God wants to be served. For the decision you make today will determine your result tomorrow.
If you are going to serve God, serve Him.
