“For thus says the LORD: ‘You shall not see wind, nor shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, so that you, your cattle, and your animals may drink’ (2 Kings 3:17 NKJV)
Before we can attain the goals we have set for ourselves in 2017 as believers, we must not only begin to provoke the power of God, but must also learn to maximize every opportunity that comes our way, for the days are evil (Eph. 5:16). Whatever result we are expecting for ourselves by the end of December 2017, we must begin to plan for it in January 2017, trusting only in the word of God.
We did not choose God but He chose and appointed us (John 15:16). Are you aware of your importance in God’s scheme of things? If the foundations be removed what can the righteous do? (Ps. 11:3). We must always go back to God to find out from Him, why He created us (Eph. 2:10). We were not just born into this world. God already knew us and had a plan for us (Jer. I:5) and unless we key into His plan for us, His plans for us will not be fulfill in our life. Jesus is coming back and He will reward every man according to his own work (Rev. 22:12).
In 2017, we are expected to take charge and to occupy till Jesus returns (Luke 19:13), and the perfection of this instruction will only be possible through His power working through us. Man by his nature is weak, hence the need to go to God for strength and empowerment by the Spirit of the Lord (Isa. 61:1), not only to be able to freely serve Him but also for our joy to be full (1 John 1:1-4). For Jesus to fulfill His ministry while on earth, He also had to be anointed (Luke 4:18 & Acts 10:38). God knows that if He does not break the limitations that is upon our lives by anointing us with power, we cannot succeed in the establishment of His Kingdom here on earth (Isa. 10:27).
In order to avoid a situation of self deceit in our lives in 2017, we must not only study and know the word of God, but must also be ready to obey and do it (James 1:22-23). We must totally be dependent on God, trusting Him and letting Him be the Lord of our Life. We must reposition ourselves for God to bless us. He has promised never to leave nor forsake us so that we may boldly declare that He is our helper (Heb. 13: 5-6).
We cannot serve God the way we feel He should be served, but the way God wants to be served. For God’s thoughts and ways are not our thoughts and ways (Isa. 55:8-9). In 2017, there must be a radical change in the way we think (Matt. 4:17) before we can have the right heart to do the acceptable will of God. We must also renew our mind (Rom. 12:2) and keep our heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life (Prov. 4:23).
We must never forget that the sufferings of today cannot be compared to the glory which God has planned for us (Rom. 8:18), always remembering that life is a gift from God, and with the knowledge that we will not be here forever.
