“That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” (John 3:6) (NKJV)

The church came into being because of the Word of life (1 John 1:1). The real secret of the church is the development of the spirit man inside of a believer. God is a Spirit (John 4:2) and His ways and thoughts are not our ways and thoughts (Isa. 55:8-9). The only means by which God can teach, lead and help us is by communicating with us through our new spirit, the inner man (Prov. 20:27).

Hence the need for us as believers to develop and train our inner man by surrendering ourselves to regular and continuous spiritual exercise, desiring the sincere milk of the word (1 Peter 2:2), otherwise our inner man will remain a spiritual babe, unskilled in the word of righteousness (Heb. 5:13), suffering from spiritual kwashiorkor.
Man is a spirit, who lives in a body and he has a soul. When God wants to speak to us, He speaks to our spirit, but if the inner man is “underdeveloped”, we will be dull of hearing (Heb. 5:11) and unable to hear Him. A matured Christian hears God easily because he has grown spiritually by activating and has continuously exercising his spirit man.

Our future advantage in this world has been kept for us in the kingdom of God (John 3:3) because our confidence comes from the spirit. We will not be able to arrive at our destiny and be able to fulfill our divine purpose in this world and in eternity unless we engage in spiritual exercises.

To have good success and to make our way prosperous, we are not just to be hearers or reciters of the word, but doers of the word of God (James 1:22), by continuously exercising our inner man and meditating on the word, which will enable us contact and access spiritual information from God.
When our inner man is well developed, God would have found in us a temple through which He can express Himself. He is our advantage because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, that leads to life, and there are only few that find it (Matt. 7:14).

We cannot run this race with our human brain by leaning on our own understanding (Prov. 3:5), which inevitably leads to destruction. (Matt. 7:13). Instead we must learn to trust God and develop our inner man. To be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace (Rom. 8:6).
