Expanding the Kingdom of God

Matthew 6:10, “Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is heaven”

The kingdom of God is a domain in which God manifests His sovereignty in every facet of the lives of the citizens. It encapsulates all created intelligence that are willingly subject to the king (Jesus Christ) and in fellowship with Him. The kingdom of God is eternal and spiritual and the dominion never ceases. Daniel 4:3 says, “How great are his signs, And how mighty His wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and His dominion is from generation to generation”

The central theme of the message of Jesus Christ when he began his ministry is the kingdom of God. Mark 1:14, “Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God”. Even after Jesus ascended, the foundational message of His disciples remained the kingdom of God. All the miracles, healings, and supernatural manifestations wrought through the hands of the disciples could only be possible when the kingdom of God is made available. The kingdom of God has solution to every problem on the face of the earth. This is why Jesus taught the disciples to pray for the kingdom of God to come and for His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven in Matthew 6. When the kingdom of God is brought to bear in the life of an individual, community or even a nation, righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost is the result. This is absolutely beyond religion and regular attendance of church services.

Romans 14:17, “For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy and the Holy Ghost”

We are a part of God’s kingdom, in fact His ambassadors. God expects us not only to represent His kingdom, but to expand its borders. This means allowing the Holy Spirit to work through us to express God’s unsearchable and abundant life in the full range of human activity (work, recreation, arts, entertainment and relationships). When we begin to exercise this authority in accordance with the will of God, then these areas of influence become a part of the kingdom of God. The government of God extends as far as this authority extends. For many years, majority of believers have been taught to focus on making heaven at the expense of establishing and expanding the frontiers of the kingdom of God. This may explain the reason why there are churches in every corner, yet corruption, wickedness and all forms of lawlessness is taking over the land.

The ultimate goal of Christ is the expansion of God’s kingdom. The same applies to us as His ambassadors. Revelation 4:11 tells us that we are created for His pleasure. The plan of God is that we will take charge in our various spheres of influence and establish the will of God by the help of His Spirit.

Ephesians 2:10, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath ordained that we should walk in them”

What many fail to realize is that even before they were born God had already earmarked a work for them. This work has little or nothing to do with the current jobs we are doing but has everything to do with the kingdom of God. A man cannot be a part of the expansion of the kingdom until he discovers this work.

The first step therefore is to locate the work that God ordained for you from the beginning of creation and then target spheres of influence that are ripe for penetration according to what He has programmed you for.

God bless you.
