Luke 2:14, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men”

The virgin conception and birth of Jesus Christ heralded the ultimate plan of God to extend His invisible kingdom to the visible world. By this, the eternal government of God was brought to bear on the affairs of the physical world bringing with it peace, goodwill, righteousness, prosperity, healing, deliverance, protection, direction, among others. All these are the entitlement of citizens and meant to manifest daily in their lives. It then follows that any celebration of the savior that is devoid of any of the above is a waste of time and an abuse of the original idea in the heart of God when He decided to release His son to the world.

I was on Marina, Lagos Island a few days when I saw a sea of heads of people running around in confusion trying to make one purchase or the other in a bid to prepare for “Christmas”. Some are going to spend all the money saved up since the beginning of the year just to be like others. Then, I asked myself, in what way does this confusion reflect the ‘BIG’ idea behind God sending His son to the world. The amazing thing is that even believers have been taught to religiously follow this unending drama year after year. The end result is that rather promotion/lifting that should follow a diligent celebration of the savior, many end up demoted and frustrated at the end of the season.

Luke 2:34, “Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary His mother, “Behold, this child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel —————-“.

In 1 Corinthians 3:21, the Bible says, “Therefore let no man boast in men, “For all things are yours”

1 Corinthians 2:12, “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God”

The bottom-line is that we are joint heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17) and all things are ours because we are citizens of the kingdom. By His Spirit, he has revealed the things that have been freely given to us. All the things that people are running around for in the name of Christmas celebration are actually things that have been given freely to us.

As citizens of the kingdom, we celebrate Christmas every day and do not have need to pursue vanity or join the madness that is prevalent everywhere. Peace, goodwill, righteousness, prosperity, healing, deliverance, protection, direction, etc. belong to citizens of the kingdom and reflect the reasons for Christmas.

Celebrate this year’s Christmas with diligence and understanding and watch God lift beyond your expectation in the New Year.

Merry Christmas.
