“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us”. Ephesians 3:20(KJV).
The greatest challenge facing an average believer today is failure to understand who he/she is. This is why in spite of the glorious promises of God to citizens of HIS kingdom, many walk around as mere ‘ordinary’ men without testimony and barely any impact in their immediate environment. In Psalm 82:5-6, the Bible wondered why men would be created as gods, yet they walk around in darkness. The simple reason being that they do not know who they are.
1 Peter 2:9 tells us that we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and a peculiar people. We are a people called out of darkness into the kingdom of light to proclaim the praises of the one that called us out. Ephesians 2:19 goes ahead to confirm and assure us that we are not strangers but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God. A child of God that believes these promises, understands what God is saying and activates them will surely be a sign and wonder to his community. He will be bold, courageous and a shining light wherever he goes.
We must understand that God is not looking for religious people but people who will with understanding break every religious and retrogressive traditions of men and walk in the fullness of the gospel of the kingdom. God is looking for Ephesians 2:10 citizens, those who recognize that they are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus unto good works. Until a child of God begins to walk in the light of this understanding, he may never fulfil the purpose of God for his life.
Many of us called by God are still hibernating in the upper room and unable to fulfil their destinies. God is saying that we have been on that mountain for too long and it’s time to move on. We must leave the upper room and position ourselves as instruments for the propagation of the gospel of the kingdom and establishment of the will of God. These cannot happen until we begin to see ourselves as citizens of the kingdom and accept all the associated rights and privilege.
It is not enough to know the ways of God, we must align ourselves with the thoughts of God. Never forget that Moses knew the ways of God but failed to enter the promise land. It is good to know the ways of God, but better to understand His thoughts. There is a power that works in us. That power is the power of God. That power works in us to deliver results that our thoughts and imagination can never capture.
Go into this week with this understanding and see the power of God unfold mightily on your behalf.
