“And not only as we had hoped, but they first gave themselves to the Lord, and then to us by the will of God” (2 Cor. 8:5) (NKJV)
Before the foundation of the world, God had slain a Lamb (Rev.13:8), God therefore expects us to have a sacrifice mentality, knowing that everything about life in the kingdom revolves around ‘sacrifice’.
Our life is built on a sacrifice. Indeed, we are living sacrifices (Rom, 12:1) as opposed to dead sacrifices offered in the Old Testament.
To succeed in God, we must have the knowledge and understanding that we have been bought with a price, the precious blood of Jesus (Acts 20:28) and that our life no longer belongs to us.
We must also recognize that for our sacrifices to be acceptable before God we must offer ourselves first to Him (2 Cor. 8:5) as a living sacrifice, otherwise our sacrifice will be a waste of time and will not be unacceptable to Him. God delights in excellent sacrifices (Heb. 11:4).
We must also have the understanding that it is not every challenging situation that we find ourselves in life that answers to prayer. The answer in certain circumstances can be found in the knowledge and understanding of the word (2 Peter 1:5).
God is interested in the condition of our heart (Rom. 12:1). He wants us to submit our heart to Him by aligning our heart with His will (Isa. 55:8-9), presenting our life before Him has an offering.
God has a place and purpose for each and every one of us. Do not be envious of the wicked (Ps. 73:17). When your heart is submitted to Him, He will surely lift you up for His glory (James 4:10).
We must continuously desire the blessings of the Lord that “maketh rich” and adds no sorrow with it (Prov. 10:22).
Serving God is a sacrifice and we must be ready to deny ourselves first and follow Him to do His work. A God ordained life is about crucifying the flesh (John 12:24-25). We must therefore continuously present our lives before Hi as an acceptable sacrifice.
