“But He was wounded for our transgressions,He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,And by His stripes we are healed” (Isa. 53:5 NKJV)
The perfect will of God for us is that we should live in divine health. Divine health is a state where we are free from sicknesses through the application of the word of God. It is our covenant right to live in divine health (Ex. 15:26).
Sickness is spiritual which manifests in our physical body. It is a curse (Gal 3:13). God does not expect His children to be sick (Isa. 53:5, 1 Peter 2:24). Sickness is from the kingdom of darkness (John 10:10). Sickness comes as a result of our ignorance, when we disobey God’s divine laws and principles (Hosea) 4:6. Before we can begin to operate in divine health, we must be fully persuaded in our mind that sickness is not of God (Job 2:7, Acts 10:38).
We cannot serve God in bondage. God’s plan is for us to be free so that we can serve Him (Ex. 5:11). This is the essence of the kingdom spirit. This is why God wants us to live in divine health. Divine health is our covenant right. We have a covenant of life with God. God has given us eternal life (1 John 5:11). Whether we are able to appropriate it in our lives will now depend on our mindset.
It takes the kingdom spirit in us to know as believers that we can lay our hands on the sick, and the sick will recover (Rom. 8:11). God’s plan is that we depend on His word in all situations we may find ourselves. God has made available only one solution to every challenge we might face – Jesus Christ. The word of God has the capacity to keep us alive.
If the foundation be destroyed, what can the righteous do? (Ps. 11:3). It is important therefore that we go back to the foundation which was laid by Christ and follow Him (1 Cor. 11:1). The power of God still works (Heb. 13:8). The word of God is the medicine we need to keep our flesh alive (Prov. 4:20-22).
When our spirit man is charged with the word of God and active, sickness will be far away from our body. It is our spirit man that gives life to our flesh, hence the need to build it up by continuously, feeding it with the word of God, because our flesh cannot understand spiritual things.
It takes accurate spiritual knowledge of God’s will to live above sickness. Since the battle starts in our mind, we must therefore activate the mind of Christ within us (1 Cor. 2:16) to be able to process the thoughts and ways of God (Isa. 55:8). We must begin to change the way we think and stop accommodating or celebrating sickness as if it is a virtue.
The only way we can resist the thoughts from the kingdom of darkness and fight sickness is to continuously feed our spirit man with the word of God and back it up with action on the day of adversity because the word of God always works. Faith without works is dead (James 2:26).
