“For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way”
The strategy of Satan has always been to draw the minds of men away from God, and to destroy individual accountability and submission to the will of God. This was exactly what he wanted to achieve when he tempted the Son of God, Jesus and failed.
Satan has never hidden his hatred for man ever since and has subtly raised the ante all in a bid to ensure that man does not submit to the plan and purposes of God. The comfort for us is that God is never taken unawares by the subtlety of the enemy and warns us in 2 Thessalonians 2:7 that the mystery of iniquity is already at work.
Many people fail to understand that the mystery of iniquity is the work of principalities and powers and their work is line upon line, here a little and there a little. It starts with a sin that appears as harmless originally and then graduates to iniquity. When David committed adultery with Bathsheba, little did he know that it would ultimately result to murder. The recent legitimization of same sex marriage across the 50 states of the United States was the culmination of the work of mystery of iniquity at its best. The process began subtly many decades ago while the church was asleep. Matthew 13:25 says, But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way” This is a demonstration of how the mystery of iniquity works.
Ephesians 6:12, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places”
The above scripture captures what the church is up against and it can only take the power of God to stop the mystery of iniquity. The challenge is that most people who think that they are working for God are actually on the size of iniquity. This explains why Jesus in Matthew 7:21 said, “Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of the father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity”
The good thing in all of these is that the people of God are secure in that more than adequate provision have been made for our protection. 2 Corinthians 10:4 says, “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds”
The Bible in Colossians 2:15 further assures us that principalities and powers have been defeated and put to shame publicly.
God is looking for men and women who are willing and obedient. A people that would uphold the banner of righteousness and put at bay the evil machinations of the mystery of iniquity. Are you one of the people HE is looking for?
