The Year of Remarkable Redemption

Welcome to your year of Remarkable Redemption. It will be a year when the Lion’s roar will be heard across the nations and a season likened to the life story of Saul from Tarsus, filled with momentous interventions, decisive encounters, incredible enlightenment and quantum leaps to higher dimensions. describes the word Remarkable as “notably or conspicuously unusual; extraordinary or worthy of notice or attention. In addition, the word, “redeem” from which we get the word, “redemption” means, “to buy back” or “recover”. To redeem also means, “to re-possess” because the word, “deem” means to possess! To redeem therefore is to repossess time the way God gave it to mankind originally before it was stolen. Time is the hardest currency in the world! It is the same wherever, whenever! All of humankind has access to the same measure of time. It is what YOU do with the time allotted you that makes the difference. Rich man, poor man, beggar man & thief all have 24 hours a day. What makes the difference is HOW you invest or fill up your time.

This is why the Psalmist said in Psalm 90:12, “So teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom”. Other modern translations talk about the brevity of life and render the prayer – O teach us how to live well. If you want to bring about a change in your life and make your life really count, you must become a better investor of your time. If you will be honest, you will agree that we are sold to habits, conventions, customs and mores that are not necessarily productive, in fact, that are downright limiting and counter-productive. You cannot plant corn and reap coconuts. If you will not invest in spiritual things, you cannot reap the benefits of spiritual things.

Here is a picture to place in your heart that will enable us to manage and invest our time better. The moment every baby is born into the earth, the Almighty opens an account of time and makes a deposit into that account of the time allotted to you on the earth. No further deposits are allowed into that account. You only make withdrawals. Every day, you wallet is filled with 24 segments of your balance. How you disburse the money is your wallet daily is totally up to you. One thing is clear, when your account reaches zero, your time on earth is up! Oh! One more thing, the dividends for that time investment are usually paid in Eternity. Sometimes, the Almighty allows part of the dividends to be received here on Earth, but the bulk of the dividends are for your eternal destination.

Knowing this, it is time to make some adjustments or critical turn-around decisions. Here are a few suggested companies to invest your time dollars in:

  1. Engage in Bible study (NOT Bible reading – 2 Tim. 2:15) and have a more effective prayer life
  2. Strategize and plan better in order to have better results
  3. Do an in-depth examination of your vision and focus
  4. Understand your purpose
  5. Have written down goals and pursue them steadfastly
  6. Discard unprofitable directions and ventures
  7. Delete time wasting projects, habits and investments
  8. Re-evaluate your friendships and business partners.

To get the full benefits of the year of remarkable redemption, 2 groups of people must receive a special warning:

Eph 5:14-16“Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. 15. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Procrastination is called the thief of time because a procrastinator keeps putting off what should be done until a more convenient time. The procrastinator keeps saying to himself, “I will do such and such when tomorrow comes”. The problem is that tomorrow never comes! Because there will always be a tomorrow, tomorrow.

Awake and arise this year. Cast off the restraints that have held you back, take full advantage of the mind of Christ that is yours by right and let history note that 2016 is the year when you laid hold on that for which God laid hold on you!
