What manner of men ought we to be?

2 Peter 3:11, “Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be —————–“

The above question is an excellent question to consider by every member of the Living Waters Unlimited Church family following the excellent and successful conclusion of this year’s annual convention. After discussing the future destruction of all material things in 2 Peter 3, Apostle Peter left no one in doubt or guessing as to what manner of men and women the people of God ought to be. He had in the earlier verses written about how we have escaped from the corruption in the world and in verse 14 admonished that we should give diligence so that we may be found in peace, without spot and blameless in the sight of God. This clearly gives an indication of what manner of men and women people should become especially when eternity is put in view.

In the same light, the annual congress of the Living Waters Unlimited Church with the theme, ”Mastering The Mysteries and the Keys of the Kingdom” has just ended with no participant in doubt about what the church and indeed the Body of Christ should be doing now and in the future to establish the Kingdom of God. The congress established that it is the desire of God that His children engage the mysteries and the keys of the kingdom. Clearly, without the mysteries of the keys of the kingdom, an average believer will remain ordinary and unable to fulfill his purpose nor build or expand the frontiers of the God’s kingdom.

Matthew 13:11 “He answered and said unto them, because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given”. Jesus expected the disciples to recognize that they can only win in this world by understanding and deploying the mysteries and the keys of the kingdom. If that was his expectation then, I can assure you that it has not changed. He is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). If Peter, James, John and the rest became indomitable by employing the mysteries and the keys of the kingdom; you and I can only win in this earth by doing the same.

In Matthew 16:19, Jesus promised us the keys of the kingdom of heaven because he knows that without the keys, we will remain mere men with limited opportunities to operate in the supernatural realm.

Another highlight of the convention is that no one can engage the mysteries or keys of the kingdom without first being connected to the kingdom of God. Put differently, participants were made to understand that anything we do that is not connected to the kingdom will be fruitless as the number priority of God in every situation is His kingdom and the expansion thereof.

Luke 4:43, “But He said to them, I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent”

If the primary reason our master was sent is the kingdom, our purpose must also be the kingdom.

John 20:21, “So Jesus said to them again, Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you”

Participants at the congress also went away with the revelation that the Kingdom of God is totally different from modern day democracies. The Kingdom comprises a King, a kingdom and a royal family. In a Kingdom, the word of the king is supreme and until a child of God repositions his mind in this light, he may never be able to please the Father.

Given the revelations from this year’s congress, we must not only understand the mysteries and the keys of the kingdom but also master their use. Secondly, we must have a grasp of the basics of the kingdom and change our mindsets with that understanding.

Finally, we must recognize that we are change agents (leaders) and nothing around us will change until we change and since we are carriers of the kingdom, we must influence our environment. If we don’t carry the kingdom, the kingdom will not carry us. This is a fact we have to believe and only then will the will of God be established and the sons and daughters God is looking for will emerge.
